Why Not the Packet?

Taco seasoning packets contain more than just the spices. Here is an ingredient list from a popular packet at stores near you:

Yellow Corn Flour, Spices, Salt, Maltodextrin, Paprika, Modified Corn Starch, Onion Powder, Sugar, Garlic Powder, Citric Acid, Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Natural Flavors, Caramel Color

Store-bought taco seasoning packets often contain additives, preservatives, and excess sodium. By crafting your own blend, you can skip the unnecessary ingredients and tailor the flavors to your preferences.

Notes

This is equivalent to 4 taco packets.
A taco packet is equal to 3 tablespoons of taco spice.
2-3 Tablespoons of seasoning is perfect for 1 pound of meat.
Typically, with a taco packet, water is added. This creates a sauce because there is some kind of thickening agent in the packet. This can be accomplished with this seasoning mix by whisking 1/2 tbs corn starch and 1/2 cup cold water in a cup and adding to 1# of meat.
